CPL 2026 to run from August 07 as Arnos Vale set for hosting games

The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) has officially announced that the 2026 season will commence on August 7, with matches set to be played across a record-equalling eight nations. In a significant development, the tournament will also feature games at Arnos Vale Stadium for the first time in its history.

This year’s edition will be staged across Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago, underlining the league’s continued push to expand its footprint across the Caribbean.

CPL CEO Pete Russell emphasised the importance of this expansion, stating that taking the tournament to new venues remains a key part of the league’s long-term vision. Arnos Vale, a venue with a rich cricketing legacy, has previously hosted 36 men’s international matches and was also one of the venues during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, where spin-friendly conditions played a major role.

Russell described it as “a fantastic venue with a proud cricket history” and expressed excitement about engaging with the passionate local fanbase. The CPL 2026 season will run until September 20 and will feature the introduction of a seventh franchise, Jamaica Kingsmen.

However, the tournament will overlap with The Hundred in England, which could impact the availability of players like Nicholas Pooran and Sherfane Rutherford during the latter stages.

While the complete schedule is yet to be announced, the playoffs, including the Eliminator, Qualifier 1, Qualifier 2, and the final, will be held at Kensington Oval from September 16 to 20.

The Trinbago Knight Riders remain the most successful franchise in the history of the Caribbean Premier League, having clinched a record five titles. Notably, they will head into the 2026 season as the defending champions, once again carrying the tag of favourites.
