Arsenal advanced to the Champions League semifinals after holding Sporting CP off the board in a 0-0 draw at the Emirates.
The Gunners took a one-goal lead into Wednesday’s second leg courtesy of a last-gasp strike from Kai Havertz in last week’s first leg. That late goal ultimately proved to be the decisive moment in the quarterfinal.
Mikel Arteta’s side lacked intensity at times throughout the tie, but two solid defensive performances were enough to guide Arsenal into the final four with a 1-0 aggregate win.
Arsenal will lock horns with Atletico Madrid in the semifinals.
More to come.
