What did Ben Shelton & Arthur Fils have to say after their respective title triumphs in Munich & Barcelona?

Ben Shelton‘s 2026 BMW Open title triumph marked his fifth ATP Tour-level crown. In the aftermath of his win over Flavio Cobolli in the final, the American reflected on the improvement of his game on clay, saying:
“I have big ambitions on clay – a surface I want to keep improving on each year. It has become one of my favourite surfaces to play on. It’s a short season and some of the Americans choose not to play every event. But we had two guys in the quarterfinals of the French Open last year. Success on clay is coming back. I am looking forward to being part of this progression of U.S. men’s tennis on clay.”
Meanwhile, for Arthur Fils, the Barcelona Open triumph marked his first title since his comeback in February this year following an eight-month absence due to a back problem.
“I want to say big thanks to my team. We did one hell of a job. It’s been eight months struggling with injury, but now we are back on the court and we have won the trophy. I am pretty happy about that,” Fils said after his win over Rublev in the Barcelona final.
Both Shelton and Fils are set to appear next at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament of the Madrid Open.
