Former India opener Virender Sehwag criticised Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Ajinkya Rahane over a key decision after their win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2026. The game went into the Super Over, which KKR eventually won.
Batting first, they put up a modest total of 155/7. In the chase, LSG needed 17 runs off the last over. Kartik Tyagi, who did not have a great night, came back to bowl the final over and conceded 16 runs as the game went to the Super Over.
Virender Sehwag questioned Rahane’s decision to give the final over to Tyagi, stating that he would have given the over to someone else had he been in Rahane’s position.
“I don’t understand why Kartik Tyagi bowled the last over. I want to ask Rahane this. You had other bowlers, and you know the one who bowls fast on this wicket would get hit. On this wicket, I would have given that over to someone else,” he said on Cricbuzz.
Fortunately for KKR, they managed to win the Super Over and bagged the two points. They moved to the eighth spot on the table.
Virender Sehwag praises Gujarat Titans (GT) pacer after win over Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
Talking about the game between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Gujarat Titans (GT), Virender Sehwag praised GT pacer Kagiso Rabada. The Titans restricted CSK to 158/7. They then chased it down comfortably in just 16.4 overs with eight wickets to spare.
Rabada returned excellent figures of 3/25 from four overs. Virender Sehwag had suggested GT drop him and bring in Jason Holder to increase their batting depth, he reckoned that the pacer has made himself undroppable with his performance.
“In the first few games, Rabada got hit but after that, the way he has bowled, it has been a great comeback for him and GT as well. He does not believe in slower balls and bowls at a good pace, which is nice to see. He bowled some unplayable deliveries as well. I feel it is better for them to not drop him and the way he is picking wickets, you cannot drop him. I had told to leave him out and play Holder to increase the batting depth, but you can’t drop him,” he said.
Former India cricketer Rohan Gavaskar also praised GT opener Sai Sudharsan for his match-winning knock. The left-hander top-scored with a 46-ball 87, while Jos Buttler (39*) and Shubman Gill (33) chipped in with key contributions.
“When there are such chases, it is a perfect number to chase for GT. They know they can take some time to settle in and no need to take more risk. It was a perfect number for Sai and Gill, and Sai batted really well. There is elegance and class in his batting and you will love it as a cricket fan.”
With the commanding victory, GT moved to the fifth position on the table with four wins.
