AEW scares off TNA; forces the company to move its PPV

AEW made a bold move last month when it scheduled one of its biggest pay-per-views of the year, Forbidden Door 2026, to go against one of TNA’s most important annual events, Slammiversary 2026. Now, it appears the latter company has changed the start time of its show to avoid direct competition.

Inter-promotional competition between All Elite Wrestling and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling has escalated as of late, especially after the recent controversies surrounding the Nashville-based promotion pulling its talent from matches against some of AEW’s most prominent names on the indie circuit. Notably, last month, the Jacksonville-based company announced that it will be running its annual cross-promotional pay-per-view, Forbidden Door 2026, on June 28, the same day as TNA’s Slammiversary 2026.

Subsequently, news broke that neither Total Nonstop Action Wrestling nor its partner brand WWE had anticipated AEW scheduling Forbidden Door to go head-to-head against Slammiversary, which happens to be one of TNA’s biggest shows of the year. Now, it appears the company has moved the event start time to 3 PM Eastern Time, hours ahead of Forbidden Door 2026, which will reportedly begin at 7 PM ET.

TNA presumably made the aforementioned adjustment to avoid direct competition with the All Elite Wrestling PPV and to maximize Slammiversary 2026 viewership.

Announcements for AEW Double or Nothing 2026

Before AEW heads to San Jose, California, for this year’s iteration of Forbidden Door in June, the promotion will be rolling into the Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York, later this month for the 2026 edition of Double or Nothing. So far, only two matches have officially been confirmed for the pay-per-view. The first of these will be the long-anticipated blow-off match between Don Callis Family members Konosuke Takeshita and Kazuchika Okada over the latter’s International Championship.

The second confirmed bout will witness Adam Copeland and Christian Cage staking their partnership for a shot at the World Tag Team Titles currently held by FTR as they challenge Dax and Cash in an “I Quit” match.

Furthermore, this past Wednesday on Dynamite, Ricochet and The Demand issued a challenge to Chris Jericho to find some partners and face them in a Stadium Stampede match on May 24. Furthermore, although it has not yet been made official, Double or Nothing might see MJF putting his hair on the line for a shot at reclaiming the Men’s World Championship from Darby Allin.
