A popular name in AEW, Tommy Billington, recently celebrated a personal milestone with the Jacksonville-based wrestling company.
He comes from a wrestling lineage, being the nephew of former WWE legend Dynamite Kid. Following in the footsteps of his legendary uncle, Tommy Billington also adopted the ‘Dynamite Kid’ name and made his professional wrestling debut in 2018. He began his tenure with his brother, Mark, as The Bilington Bulldogs.
After success in promotions like Major League Wrestling over the next six years, Tommy Bilington made his AEW debut in 2024. He appeared on the May 11 episode of Collision to square off against FTR’s Dax Harwood in a singles match. His performance was appreciated by the audience, despite losing the bout, and it was reported that Bilington was signed by AEW in August.
Since then, he has made numerous appearances in Tony Khan’s company, primarily on Collision and Ring of Honor. At the same time, The Dynamite Kid also competed at the Zero Hour show before All In London in 2024. Today marked the two-year anniversary of Tommy Bilington’s debut against Harwood in All Elite Wrestling.

AEW star Tommy Bilington’s uncle had a real-life backstage fight in WWE
AEW star Tommy Bilington’s uncle, The Dynamite Kid, was involved in a real-life backstage fight with Jacques Rougeau of The Fabulous Rougeaus in the late 1990s. He had punched and kicked Rougeau, causing his face to swell severely.
Rougeau retaliated by using a roll of quarters to knock the Dynamite Kid’s teeth on the following taping. His ex-wife, Michelle Bilington, revealed on an episode of Dark Side of the Ring that Dynamite Kid gave her a gun as he believed that his family’s lives were at risk.
“I was like, ‘I don’t want that gun. I was so scared of it,’” Billington said. “He goes, ‘I don’t want to scare you. I talked to [former WWE Superstar] Dino Bravo…’ He said he saw an envelope with Tom’s name, our address, and inside of it it had a picture of our house, me and the kids. [The message inside the envelope said] ‘If there’s any retaliation, anything, your family’s gonna be dead.’”
The Dynamite Kid passed away on his 60th birthday in 2018, the same year his nephew began his wrestling career and continues to carry his legacy forward in the industry.
