Colin Cowherd has a bold take on the NFL’s quarterback hierarchy on the eve of the 2026 schedule release.
On Wednesday’s episode of his FS1 show “The Herd”, the veteran sportscaster revealed his 2026 quarterback rankings, which he based on “momentum” and whether they were “an ascending player” and a “leader in the locker room.” He began with the players who just missed his cut:

Colin Cowherd gets candid on Steelers re-signing Aaron Rodgers
Speaking of quarterbacks, there is one who is still looking to play despite being in his 40s — Aaron Rodgers. The Pittsburgh Steelers would like to have him back, and they even scheduled a meeting with him over the past weekend, only for him to not show up.
Colin Cowherd has since shared his thoughts on the matter. During an episode of “The Herd” last week, he argued that the one-time Super Bowl champion and multiple-time MVP deserved more than a “freebie” veteran minimum:
“He wants more money, and the Steelers are going to cave. He deserves more money. They were actually a grown-up, functional offense. Pre-Aaron Rodgers in 2024, they were completely inept at virtually everything. And last year, they may have not been special, but it was a massive improvement.”
He continued:
“You can’t ask a Hall of Fame quarterback, in back-to-back years, to give you two freebies. Last year was sorta like that Costco free sample year. Aaron gave you some Costco free samples. And now Aaron’s saying, ‘OK, this year, I need you to buy in bulk. No freebie.’“
Steelers OTAs begin on Monday, May 18 and will last until June 12. Mandatory minicamp is from June 2 to 4.
