Brie and Nikki Bella were set to compete for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania. They were all set for the match when a move by Charlotte Flair left Nikki Bella injured after she had a bad step on her own foot.
The star wrestled and completed the rest of the match, throughout telling her sister that she had felt like she had broken her foot, but there was hope after the bout was done, with there being rumors that the star’s injury was not that bad and that she would be making her way back to the ring before WrestleMania. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen, and she was replaced by the newly returning Paige, who teamed with Brie Bella and became the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.
Meanwhile, fans thought that Nikki would be back soon after the match was done, immediately after WrestleMania, but that was not to be. The star’s injury was worse than expected, and Fightful Select has reported on it.
The report stated that the injury was much worse than what WWE portrayed it to be, given that the thought was she could work through it. However, given her absence, it was evident that it was not the case. The original plan had been for her and Brie to win the Women’s Tag Team titles themselves, but it was instead changed to Paige winning.
The injury was set to be a fracture, a tear, and a rough sprain. Given it’s a fracture, it may be some time before the star returns.
