Michael Cole said that Sol Ruca had the chance at the end of the week to defeat Becky Lynch to become the new WWE Intercontinental Champion. She had the chance to do so at Saturday Night’s Main Event, but that match was brought to a hasty close after Sol Ruca accidentally hit the referee when Becky Lynch pulled her in the way. She won via DQ because of Lynch’s actions, but also got a shot at the title as a result.
“It is the time now for The Upstart, Sol Ruca. She has an opportunity to take the Intercontinental Championship from Big Time Becky Lynch, all a part of Sunday’s Clash in Italy.”
In the interview on RAW, Cathy Kelley interviewed Becky Lynch, during which she announced that Sol Ruca was absent from the show due to an injury she suffered at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
“I’m here with Women’s Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch. Becky, Sol is sidelined tonight with injuries that she sustained at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Although you were initially irate, it feels like you have the upper hand now, heading into the title defense.”
It remains to be seen what happens when Lynch faces her, as the champion now has the advantage going into the bout. The nature of her injury is unknown, and if it’s obvious, the veteran Lynch will be sure to take advantage.
