Mercedes Mone one step away from glory; advances to finals of Owen Hart Tournament 2026

AEW megastar Mercedes Mone crossed the final obstacle on Dynamite this week and punched her ticket to the finals of the Owen Hart Foundation Cup tournament.

On the June 17 episode of Dynamite, Mercedes Mone was scheduled to battle Hazuki in the Owen Cup tournament semi-finals. The CEO had returned to AEW a few weeks ago as the Wild Card and defeated Alex Windsor in the opening round. At the same time, Hazuki outlasted Persphone in her opening round match, following which she was attacked by Mone, fueling tensions between them ahead of their collision.

The two women finally met inside the ring on Dynamite this week. Right from the get-go, it seemed that the veteran Mone was the heavy favorite to pick up an easy victory over Hazuki. After all, she is the reigning Owen Cup winner and one of the greatest female wrestlers of this generation.

Despite that, Hazuki did not budge and went against The CEO in full force. With that, it looked like an evenly matched showdown with the action spilling all over the ringside area. Moreover, the 28-year-old Japanese star delivered an exceptional performance, which led to the fans loudly chanting her name.

Despite her in-ring performance and the fans siding with her, Hazuki ultimately fell to The Ultimo Mone. In the final moments of the exciting showdown, she tried to roll up Mone for the pinfall, who instead countered it with the backstabber and trapped her in the Statement Maker submission hold. The Japanese star tried to break the hold, but was unsuccessful and tapped out.

With that, Mercedes Mone emerged victorious and advanced to the Owen Cup finals set to take place at the Forbidden Door 2026 pay-per-view. The former RAW Women’s Champion will face off against Athena or Maya World and is now only one match away from making history by winning the Owen Cup for the second straight year.
