Serena Williams will make her much awaited return to women’s singles at the 2026 Wimbledon Championships and she will be taking on Australian star Maya Joint for her opening round match at the Grand Slam. The duo are scheduled to be in action on Tuesday, June 30 and they will take to Centre Court after Iga Swiatek and Alexander Zverev’s opening round matches.
Williams last played a women’s singles match four years ago, at the 2022 US Open. Back then, the American took down Danka Kovinic for her opening round encounter, before upsetting second seed Anett Kontaveit in the round of 64. Williams’ campaign at the event came to a close in the third round at the hands of Ajla Tomljanovic. After announcing her return to tennis earlier this year, the 44-year-old has competed in the women’s doubles event, displaying some promising performances.
