Newcastle set to launch offer to sign another World Cup star after Manzambi

The drama is only just heating up at St James’ Park. Newcastle United‘s exodus of talent looks likely to continue thanks to Bruno Guimaraes and that exodus is set to lead to several fresh faces.

The Magpies have already signed Bouzamana Toure and agreed a deal to sign Sean Steurs from Ajax. Now, they’ve set their focus on World Cup stars. There’s confidence that a deal for Johan Manzambi will be finalised after the tournament and he could now be joined by another summer star in the form of Antonio Nusa.

    Football FanCast’s Verdict

    Credibility

Nusa has been one of the breakout stars of the World Cup and expectedly so. His talent was clear before the tournament got underway at RB Leipzig and the German club are now expecting an offer from Newcastle as they seek attacking additions.

    Finances

The Bundesliga seems to be where it’s at for Newcastle this summer and Nusa’s price-tag seems to be in the same region as Manzambi. Whilst Leipzig don’t want to lose their man, they have reportedly set a valuation of around £60m to sell their winger.

    Insight

Whilst a lot of the focus has been on Yan Diomande this summer, it’s Leipzig’s other star winger who could be on his way to the Premier League. The Norway international was involved in nine goals last season and scored an important goal for Norway against Ivory Coast recently.

    Impact

Nusa’s arrival would likely end Newcastle’s chase for a winger, having already added Toure. It would allow them to focus on finding midfield reinforcements amid Guimaraes’ potential exit.

Fresh from a solid World Cup campaign, Nusa is set to be a man in-demand this summer, with Newcastle among the chasing clubs.

Newcastle expected to launch Antonio Nusa offer

According to Pete O’Rourke’s Football Insider, Newcastle are expected to launch an offer for Nusa ahead of next season. A Premier League move reportedly appeals to the 21-year-old winger and, although RB Leipzig are reluctant to sell their star this summer, clubs could still test their resolve.

Previous reports have claimed that the German club value Nusa at around £60m, which would certainly be a hefty fee. Newcastle, however, have cash to burn after selling Sandro Tonali for £100m, Anthony Gordon for more than £69m, and Guimaraes unlikely to go cheap.

£60m Nusa has potential to replace Gordon

Replacing Gordon will not be an easy task this summer. The England international took the role of talisman in the absence of Alexander Isak last season, before joining the Swede out of the exit door. Now out of the Champions League, Newcastle’s focus seems to be set on investing in potential. And that’s where Nusa comes in.

The winger’s talent can be summed up his goal against Ivory Coast. He cut inside before finding the top corner in the fashion that Newcastle fans could certainly become used to.
