Piers Morgan claims England would have reached 2026 FIFA World Cup final if 24-year-old star remained fully fit

British broadcaster Piers Morgan believes England would have made the FIFA World Cup final if Bukayo Saka was fully fit. He claimed that the Arsenal man would have helped them beat Argentina in the semifinal.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) soon after Saka scored two goals in nine minutes against France, Morgan heaped praise on the England star.

He was confident that the winger would have helped them get more goals in the 2-1 defeat to Argentina in the semifinal and posted:

“If @BukayoSaka87 had been fully fit all tournament, we’d have been in the Final.”

However, Thomas Tuchel was not of the same opinion, stating that he picked Morgan Rogers over Saka for the semifinal. He hinted that the Arsenal winger was fit for the game, but it was his decision to send the Aston Villa star and said:

“He did everything right. I had just a feeling in the semifinal for Morgan Rogers that he would be involved in something special. That was it. The [Argentina] game was so in demand that we were forced into changes because of cramps and flow of the game.”

Saka also confirmed that he is fully fit once again and was delighted to have got the hat trick. However, the forward admitted that he would have liked to play more and said:

“I would have loved to have played a bigger part but it’s too late to talk about that now. I try to do my talking on the pitch. I’m fit. We had some amazing results, we fell short against Argentina and it hurts a lot. We have to hold our head high and move on to the next one.”

England finished third in the FIFA World Cup this summer, their best finish at the tournament since winning it in 1966.

Will Thomas Tuchel continue as the England coach after FIFA World Cup?

Thomas Tuchel is under pressure as England fans have been calling for his sacking following their semifinal loss to Argentina in the FIFA World Cup. Many believe that the manager’s negative tactics led them to sit back after taking the lead, which cost them momentum and eventually the game.

The Athletic have reported that the break clause in Tuchel’s contract cannot be activated as it was not for a semifinal loss. David Ornstein reported that the FA’s clause was for an early exit at the tournament and the German coach was set to be backed.
