Fabrizio Romano has now shared a major update on Tottenham Hotspur‘s pursuit of Manchester City winger Savinho.
After making a splash in the transfer market by signing Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, Tottenham have set their sights on another Premier League star, with Savinho now in the frame for a move to north London.
The Brazilian, who is capable of playing on both flanks, joined Man City ahead of the 2024-25 campaign, and he has since gone on to amass seven goals and 16 assists in 84 matches in all competitions.
In fact, the 22-year-old picked up ten assists in his debut Premier League season alone, and he averaged 1.9 successful dribbles per 90 in the top flight during the 2025-26 campaign, which was the third-highest number in the City squad.
Journalist Vayom Lahota is particularly confident the City forward has everything it takes to become one of the world’s best wingers, saying: “Savinho is so, so good to watch. What a sensational winger City have got their hands on, he’ll be a superstar in the years to come. Needs better judgement but he’ll get there, all the right ingredients at his disposal.”
Fabrizio Romano shares Savinho to Tottenham update
In an update on X, Romano has now revealed Tottenham have been in direct talks to sign Savinho for weeks, as he has been their number one target since June.
The north Londoners remain confident they will be able to get a deal over the line, but a deal is dependent on Man City bringing in a replacement.

Tottenham also eyeing Savinho alternative
It appears as though Spurs are in a strong position to secure the Man City star’s signature, given that he has already agreed personal terms.
However, the Brazil international isn’t Roberto De Zerbi‘s side’s only target out wide, and they have opened talks regarding a deal for Benfica star Andreas Schjelderup.
The Norwegian winger is yet to agree a contract extension with Benfica, which means an exit could be on the cards this summer, off the back of an impressive World Cup.
Norway defied expectations to reach the quarter-finals, before being knocked out by England, and Schjelderup was one of their key players, picking up one goal and three assists in six matches.
