“If we’d just listen to them” – Ian Garry makes bold prediction about a world “ruled” by women

Ian Garry believes the world needs a major course correction. The UFC welterweight star is convinced that life would be better if women were the ones running things.

Garry is set to challenge Islam Makhachev for the welterweight title at UFC 330, which takes place on Aug. 15 at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

During a recent interview with High Performance ahead of the event, when the conversation turned to his wife Lyla Anna-Lee, the Irishman said:

“She’s my earth angel. She is the person who, when I need guidance, I go to her. And I feel like any smart man in the world should look at his wife and know that is the person I need to listen to.”

‘The Future’ then made a bold claim, insisting that the world would be a better place if women were the ones running it:

“If the world was run by women, we’d all live in a better world. It’ll all be simpler and easier. That is the fact of the matter, whether you agree with it or not, or you think whatever it is: if women ruled the world and we’d just listen to them and let them take over, it would be an easier world.”

Interestingly, however, Garry and his family were at the center of a major controversy not long ago over a satirical book written by his partner titled ‘How to Be a WAG’. “WAG” is a colloquial acronym for wives and girlfriends of prominent athletes.

Ian Garry explains what it means to be “a real man”

Ian Garry believes the widely held notion that a man must be strong and traditionally masculine is a warped view of what masculinity truly means, and that it couldn’t be more wrong.

During the aforementioned podcast, the UFC star shared his definition of what it means to be a man, emphasizing that fulfilling his responsibilities as a father and husband is one of the most important qualities a man should embody:

“You know what a real man is? A real man is a father, a husband, and is there for his wife and his kids. Even if they’re not together, still there, still shows up. A real man is someone who does the right thing even if he doesn’t want to.”

Garry added:

“A real man is sticking to your word. And I feel like nowadays people’s word means nothing. A real man is someone who’s able to vocalize his emotions and frustration and talk to people even in the darkest of times.” [59:05 mark of the podcast]
