Trinity Armstrong has been placed on the National Women’s Soccer League’s Season-Ending Injury List (SEI List).

Armstrong was reactivated from the league’s SEI List on July 4 and made her season debut against Gotham FC on the same day. She entered the match in the 69th minute, replacing Mimi Van Zanten. Armstrong also substituted on for Van Zanten in the 74th minute of San Diego’s clash against Angel City FC on July 11.

Armstrong confirmed the SEI List placement in a post on her personal social media. “Two weeks back. Then this,” she wrote. “Six months rebuilding my left knee. Two league games in on my right. Fully ruptured ACL and lateral meniscus. Supposedly my strongest leg and third surgery in three years.”

Armstrong is eyeing a return to league play, writing, “… When I walk back out onto that pitch, it won’t be just a comeback, it’ll be proof of what’s possible when you refuse to let anything, not even your own body, break your faith in where you’re going.”

In a press release, San Diego Sporting Director and General Manager Camille Ashton offered her support.

“Our hearts are with Trinity in this difficult time,” Ashton said. “She will have the full support from this team and entire organization as she navigates her recovery.”

Armstrong, 18, has made 18 starts in 25 appearances for the San Diego Wave since joining the club last season. The defender has one goal and two assists to her name.
