Caitlin Clark did not threaten to leave the WNBA following the Indiana Fever’s 91-85 loss to the Dallas Wings on Thursday. After the game, an X account with the username “Fever Updates” claimed that Clark threatened to walk out on the league after criticizing how the games were officiated.
The post featured a video of Paige Bueckers‘ foul on Clark from the game and a video of the Fever guard attending the postgame presser with Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston. The video only featured audio from the broadcast commentary during the foul.
“Enough is enough. Everyone is targeting me like I’m some kind of monster. I’m one of you,” Clark said as per the post. “It’s a shame that the WNBA still hasn’t made any comments about all these fouls. I don’t even want to talk about officiating anymore. It’s all bulls**t.”
“Even if a player blindsides me, apparently there still isn’t enough evidence to call a foul. The league is getting ridiculous day by day. If the players continue to target and foul me like this, I’ll seriously consider leaving the WNBA.”
However, the post’s author did not mention a credible source to back his claim. It is a satirical post taking shots at Bueckers for her foul on the Fever guard. The post has amassed over 195,000 impressions and managed to fool many fans.
“They are driving her out of the league out of jealousy,” one fan said.
“Caitlin is correct…When is the WNBA going to take action?!” another fan said.
“You should go sign a contract in Europe. Watch how the attendance and money drop in the WNBA. You did for the league what Tiger did for golf. Higher viewership and more money for everyone. The only difference was the golfers were grateful,” another fan commented.
However, some fans were aware of the post’s satirical nature.
“Clickbait at a time high,” one fan commented.
“She didn’t say this, I saw the press conference after the game… Stop f***ing lying!!” another fan commented.
“This is not true. Caitlin never said this,” another fan said.
Paige Bueckers tells Caitlin Clark to Calm Down after committing a foul

Both Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers were defended well in the match. The Fever guard finished with 10 points, four rebounds and nine assists, while the Wings guard recorded 13 points, six rebounds and eight assists.
