The Boston Red Sox have floored rival executives with their acquisition of Adley Rutschman, or at least what it took to get him.
The Red Sox acquired Rutschman from the Baltimore Orioles on Monday to bolster their playoff hopes.
However, to acquire Rutschman, the team gave up three of its top prospects, including No. 49 overall prospect Anthony Eyanson.
Sean McAdam of MassLive reported that other teams were “stunned” by what the Red Sox gave up for Rutschman. One evaluator told McAdam the deal was “literally one of the most ridiculous trades I’ve seen in 30 years.”
