WWE SummerSlam in Minnesota didn’t go the way The Bella Twins wanted, as Brie Bella suffered an injury at the event. Meanwhile, a former diva reacted to the possibility of aligning with Nikki Bella in Brie’s absence.
Earlier this year, Nikki Bella suffered an ankle injury on SmackDown in March, which forced her to miss her upcoming WrestleMania match. Instead, Brie teamed up with Paige and the two won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship in a Fatal 4-way match at The Grandest Stage of Them All in Las Vegas.

Last month, Brie and Paige lost the titles to Fatal Influence at Saturday Night’s Main Event and continued their feud with the trio on the blue brand. Later, Nikki Bella returned and challenged them to a six-woman tag team match at SummerSlam. Unfortunately, Brie suffered an injury during the match.
Regardless of the injury, the former Divas Champion finished the match and even turned on Paige alongside her sister. After the event, Brie confirmed her injury and stated she’ll be out of action indefinitely, leaving The Fearless One without a partner to take on The Anti-Diva.
In a tweet on X, a fan expressed their interest in seeing Alicia Fox, aka Victoria Crawford, return to the Stamford-based promotion and team with Nikki Bella in Brie’s absence. Fox is a former Divas Champion and a former member of Team Bella. Nikki created the group to protect her title reign under the old regime.
Later, Fox replied to the tweet and agreed she would be down for it but also prayed for Brie’s swift recovery.
With Nikki needing a partner in the Stamford-based promotion, she can replace Brie with Alicia, as several divas have competed under the new regime.
What’s next for Nikki and Brie Bella following WWE SummerSlam?
The Bella Twins wanted to hold championship gold together in the Stamford-based promotion. While Brie got that chance with Paige, Nikki still hasn’t won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship since her return in 2025. After Brie suffered an injury, the two won’t be teaming on WWE’s main roster.
Speaking on her podcast, The Fearless One previously stated that she won’t wrestle after 2027. Based on her own timeline, it’s possible that The Bella Twins can hold gold together next year when Brie completely returns from injury. It’ll be interesting to see what’s next for Nikki without Brie on her side.
