Surely it was the only provincial capital in the entire state that did not have its 21-kilometer race, and it has now been resolved for 2027. The Girona Half Marathon returns in 2027 after more than a decade of absence. The chosen date is February 28, with a route that will take runners through Girona, Salt and Sarrià de Ter. The 2027 edition will be the 23rd edition in the history of the Girona City Half Marathon and aims to mark the start of a new era for the competition. The event will combine sport, heritage and citizen participation with the objective of turning Girona into one of the great focuses of Catalan athletics during that weekend.
The race is jointly promoted by the Girona City Council, the Nan Oliveras Triathlon Club and the Costa Brava Girona Triathlon Club, who are working to recover a reference event and consolidate it again on the Catalan athletics calendar.
