Arsenal have reportedly been informed that they would need to cough up more than £120 million to sign Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez before the transfer window closes this summer.
According to talkSPORT journalist Ben Jacobs, Atletico Madrid sent a delegation to London last week to hold talks with Arsenal over a potential deal for the Argentina international. The visit was initially portrayed by sources close to the Rojiblancos as being related to a move for Nicolas Jackson, but the report claims Alvarez was also discussed.

As per the story, Atletico informed the Gunners they would consider offers in excess of £120 million for the striker. While the La Liga giants remain unwilling to negotiate with Barcelona, they are prepared to listen to proposals from Arsenal should Alvarez decide to return to the Premier League.
Arsenal are said to be gearing up to submit a formal bid in the final days of the transfer window if the player gives the green light. The Gunners also believe Atletico would be flexible over the structure of the deal, although the striker’s decision remains the key factor.
Julian Alvarez joined Atletico Madrid from Manchester City in a deal worth €75 million in the summer of 2024. During his two seasons at the club so far, the 26-year-old has played 107 games for Atletico in all competitions, recording 49 goals and 17 assists to his name.
However, the player appears to have reached the end of the road at the Metropolitano after declaring his intention to leave while representing Argentina at the World Cup this summer.

He is equally effective as a central striker, second striker or wide forward, giving Arteta the tactical flexibility to rotate his front line without sacrificing intensity. His link-up play, off-the-ball runs and ability to create as well as score would provide Arsenal with another reliable attacking option.
Most importantly, the 26-year-old has already shown he can deliver on the biggest stage. He won the World Cup with Argentina and claimed the Champions League with Manchester City. Adding these to his Premier League experience, it becomes obvious that the striker would be a huge addition for the Gunners.
