    Vaibhav Sooryavanshi urges Ishan Kishan to take successful review for South Zone’s first wicket in Duleep Trophy 2026 final [Watch]

    East Zone vice-captain Vaibhav Sooryavanshi encouraged skipper Ishan Kishan to take a successful review as the side claimed their first wicket on Day 3 (Tuesday, September 8) of the Duleep Trophy 2026 final against South Zone. The match is being played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

    On the second ball of the sixth over of South Zone’s first innings, Mukesh Kumar bowled a length delivery that drifted down the leg side. Ricky Bhui attempted to help it fine but missed, prompting wicketkeeper Kumar Kushagra and Sooryavanshi to appeal for a caught-behind dismissal. The umpire turned down the appeal, but the 15-year-old convinced Ishan Kishan to review the decision. UltraEdge confirmed a spike, leading to Bhui being given out.

    The right-hander was dismissed for just one run off 18 balls, while his opening partner Narayan Jagadeesan fell for 32 off 42 deliveries, hitting six fours in his knock.

    Batting at No. 3, Devdutt Padikkal continued his impressive form from the Sri Lanka series and brought up a well-deserved half-century. At the time of writing, South Zone were 108/2 after 28 overs, with Padikkal batting on 57 off 81 balls alongside Shaik Rasheed, who was unbeaten on 16 off 28 deliveries.

    Ishan Kishan’s magnificent 270 powers East Zone to 708 in first innings

    Earlier in the game, after opting to bat first, East Zone’s openers Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (44 off 37 balls) and Abhimanyu Easwaran (72 off 86) made valuable contributions. Shikhar Mohan also chipped in with a well-made 85 off 120 deliveries.

    Kumar Kushagra further strengthened the innings with a century, scoring 101 off 132 balls. However, it was skipper Ishan Kishan who stole the spotlight with a magnificent double century. The southpaw smashed 270 off 334 deliveries, hitting 30 fours and seven sixes.

    East Zone were dismissed for a huge 708 in 163 overs, with Tripurana Vijay emerging as South Zone’s standout bowler after returning figures of 4/180 in 42 overs.
