$20K Custom S-Works TT Extensions
The new S-Works Custom TT Extensions follow the same rider-specific development process Specialized used with Evenepoel. They combine Body Geometry fit data, 3D printing, wind-tunnel work, some skateboard griptape, and on-road testing.
They won’t turn you into Remco. However, you can totally feel like Remco when you’re in the sticks, just don’t expect his power numbers.
How Are They Made?
Specialized’s approach starts with position. Instead of creating a single extension shape and some movable hardware, the custom setup is designed around the rider’s fit. Reach, stack, hand position, forearm support, and extension angle can all influence how compact and stable a rider can remain over the course of a time trial.
Evenepoel’s TT position has become one of the more recognizable in the peloton. His hands are high and close together, and his forearms are tightly supported. The position keeps his upper body narrow and gives him a repeatable shape he can comfortably hold at speed. The extensions help make that possible.
A Small Piece of a Very Fast Setup
Evenepoel’s World Championship TT bike was hardly stock. His setup included a highly developed aero position, oversized gearing, race-specific wheels, and plenty of equipment choices aimed at one thing: finishing as quickly as possible. The custom extensions are a piece of that overall puzzle.
The quickest extension for Remco probably isn’t the quickest extension for you. Different arm lengths, shoulder widths, flexibility, torso proportions, and riding positions all change what makes sense at the front of a TT bike.
