Before we get into it, here is a look at how the table looks. Note that Gotham has clinched a playoff berth and the Chicago Stars have been eliminated.
All statistics reference regular season games only except where noted.
PLAYER STATS
-Kaleigh Kurtz has now played 138 consecutive regular season matches and 12,382 consecutive minutes. Both are league records. The streaks began June 26, 2021, while playing for the Courage. (The unrounded number is due to a rain-shortened match in 2023.)
-No players made their NWSL debuts during Week 22.
-The 10/10 watch continues with five matches to play and multiple players in with a chance to have 10 goals and 10 assists in the same season. Trinity Rodman’s assist for the Spirit Sunday brought her season total to 7. She now has 11 goals (she also scored Sunday) and 7 assists. Rodman and Cloé Lacasse are the closest to a 10/10 season. Lacasse remains on 7G/10A. Pietra Tordin is on 7G/9A, and Emma Sears at 7G/5A is running out of time.
-Ashley Sanchez thought she had her 20th goal of the season, until VAR intervened and called it back. Sanchez remains on 19 and three clear of Barbra Banda’s 16 in the Golden Boot race. A 20th goal would tie Temwa Chawinga’s NWSL record from 2024.
TEAM STATS
-Kate Del Fava remains minute-perfect for the Royals having played all 6,930 over 77 games since the team launched in 2024. Those are the longest streaks from the start of any expansion team.
-Gotham has clinched a playoff berth. It is the club’s sixth playoff appearance and fourth in a row. Gotham are the 10th NWSL champion to return to the playoffs the following season (including the 2021 Courage after the 2020 season was cancelled). The only two champions who missed the playoffs the next season were FC Kansas City in 2016 and the Washington Spirit in 2022.
-The Stars loss to the Spirit leaves their all-time record at 113-114-76. The Stars were last under .500 as a club following their match on May 7, 2014. They did not finish a season with a losing record from 2013 through 2022. They have done it every season since.
-The Spirit’s win over the Stars was their 50th away win. It was their first visit to Martin Stadium which marks the 24th away venue the Spirit have won at. The away venue they hae won the most at is Yurcak Field (6) where Sky Blue (now Gotham) played until 2019. The active stadium where they have the most wins is Shell Energy Stadium (5) in Houston.
-Taylor Huff’s stoppage time equalizer for Bay FC on Wednesday in Denver marked the first time Bay has ever flipped the result of a match with a goal in the 90th minute or stoppage time. It was the club’s 77th regular season match.
-Racing Louisville have now lost five consecutive matches. That ties a team record that, unfortunately, was set this season. Goalkeeper Jordyn Bloomer extended her personal club record losing all five.
