Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. returned to action Thursday night with help from superstar Bijan Robinson. After the running back powered a 35-14 victory over the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field, Penix offered a simple explanation for his gratitude.
Robinson finished with 213 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns as the Falcons earned their first win of the season. His performance helped Atlanta move to 1-2 and avoid a third consecutive defeat.
For Penix, the support carried particular significance. Thursday marked his first game since suffering a torn left ACL against the Carolina Panthers on November 16, 2025.
Yahoo Sports shared Penix’s praise on X, formerly Twitter, alongside a graphic capturing his appreciation for Robinson following the victory.
“Such a blessing to have someone like that on your team.”
The comment reflected a night when Atlanta’s offense finally found balance. Penix completed 18 of his 25 pass attempts for 256 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Robinson rushed for 194 yards, while Drake London caught nine passes for 194 yards.
Bijan Robinson helps Falcons offense find its footing
Robinson supplied explosive gains when the Falcons needed them. His 55-yard run helped set up his first touchdown, and he added a 31-yard burst during another productive night on the ground.
His impact also extended beyond his touches.
Late in the first half, Robinson motioned toward London and Kyle Pitts on the right side of the formation. The defense shifted its attention that way, allowing Penix to find Austin Hooper on the opposite side for a 5-yard touchdown.
That score sent the Falcons into halftime ahead 17-7. They had scored only 16 points across their first two games combined.
The sequence showed why the former Longhorns standout is so valuable to a returning quarterback. Atlanta could put the ball in Robinson’s hands or use the attention he drew to create opportunities for his teammates.
Penix had spent the opening two weeks waiting to return while Cooper Rush started. Atlanta lost both games, including a 34-3 defeat to the Carolina Panthers just four days before the trip to Green Bay.
Thursday offered a different picture. Robinson gave the Falcons a reliable rushing threat, London stretched the passing game, and Penix finished his return with a victory.
One win does not erase an uneven start, but it gives Atlanta something concrete to build upon. With Penix back and Robinson driving the offense, the Falcons head toward their next divisional test with renewed confidence.
