“Wicket bhi bahut time baad mila” – Ravindra Jadeja explains viral Emraan Hashmi-inspired celebration in IND vs WI 2026 2nd ODI

Team India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja’s new celebration grabbed eyeballs in the side’s eight-wicket win over West Indies in the second ODI of the three-match series on Wednesday. The Men in Blue gunned down 406 in just 43.3 overs, pulling off the second-highest run chase in ODIs.

Jadeja ended Amir Jangoo’s 114-run knock off 77 balls in the 43rd over to claim his maiden wicket of the series. The left-arm spinner celebrated by doing the hook step of the Afsana Banaya Aapne song from Emraan Hashmi’s upcoming Bollywood film Gunmaaster G9.

Speaking about the new celebration, the 37-year-old stated that he was a big fan of Hashmi. He also noted that he got an ODI wicket after a long time, and he performed the step instinctively.

Jadeja said in a video posted by BCCI:

“I’m a huge fan of Emraan Hashmi. So when his song came out, I liked that step. Wicket bhi bahut time ke baad mila (I got a wicket after a really long time). Whenever I feel like doing something different on that particular day, I try to do a different celebration. Luckily, I got the wicket, and at that moment, it came on instinct and I just did it.”

Notably, Hashmi also reacted to the star cricketer using his hook step for wicket celebration in the contest.

Jadeja struck again to dismiss Alzarri Joseph in the 48th over. The seasoned campaigner finished with figures of 2/75 in 10 overs.

“I always go with my instincts” – Ravindra Jadeja opens up on his iconic celebrations

Ravindra Jadeja‘s sword celebration has been a huge hit among the fans. He has predominantly used the gesture for his batting milestones. He has also used many different celebrations throughout his career, including Allu Arjun’s iconic hand-under-the-chin step from Pushpa: The Rise.

Opening up on some of his famous celebrations, he said in the same video:

“I always go with my instincts. As for the sword celebration, generally what happens is that I’ve been seeing it since childhood. So that was somewhere inside me. For last 10 to 12 years, I’ve been doing this celebration. But the Pushpa one, when the movie came out, that was trending back then. Then after that, the hand-in-pocket one was also an instinct.”

India have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series against West Indies. The third ODI will be played in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh, on Saturday, October 3.
