GREENWOOD, Ind.  The College Sports Communicators (CSC), formerly known as CoSIDA, have released their Academic All-District teams for women’s soccer on Tuesday afternoon. Methodist had five representatives in Madison Brunson, Baylor Burch, Laura Harris, Tatiana Lourenco-Shiber and Mary Newman that made the list.

Brunson started in 16 games, 13 starts, for the Monarchs this past season. In 2022, the Saint Petersburg, Florida native registered five goals and one assist. For the second year in a row, the junior midfielder was named to the USA South First Team All-Conference list.

Just like Brunson, Baylor Burch achieved First Team All-Conference status in back-to-back seasons. The senior from Live Oak, Florida started in all 16 games she played in for Methodist. She logged a career-high 1,251 minutes along the back line in 2022.

A native of Greensboro, North Carolina, Harris set new career-highs with nine goals and five assists through 20 games (19 starts). The senior forward was rewarded with Second Team All-Conference honors by the league.

Fellow senior Lourenco-Shiber, who was also named Second Team All-Conference, had a career season with 10 goals and eight assists (both second on the team). The Pembroke Pines, Florida product made 18 starts in 19 games for the Monarchs.

Newman, a senior from Virginia Beach, Virginia, was one of two goalies that split time once league action began. Through 17 games, with 12 starts, she made 25 saves and a goal against average of 0.80 while going 12-1-0 in net. Her career goalie record is now 22-4-0, which ranks sixth all-time in program history for wins.
