IPL 2024: Rohit Sharma, other MI stars spotted in Jamnagar for short break ahead of DC clash

Former Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Rohit Sharma and his teammates were spotted in Jamnagar for a short break ahead of their Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) clash against Delhi Capitals (DC). The match is scheduled to be contested on April 7, Sunday, at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

In a video that has been surfacing on social media, the ‘Hitman’ and Tilak Varma were coming out of Jamnagar airport on Wednesday. The former MI captain was accompanied by his wife Ritika Sajdeh and daughter Samaira. In the same vein, according to Rajasthan Royals’ veteran offspinner Ravichandran Ashwin, MI have a planned break after their defeat against the Sanju Samson-led side.

Interestingly enough, the willy spinner also revealed that once a few years back when Kieron Pollard was struggling for form, MI allowed him to have a sumptuous vacation in Goa. Consequently, it helped him to find his mojo back. Hence, the Mumbai-based franchise are hoping that these short-duration off-the-field moments will help the side to regroup themselves and come back strongly in the ongoing IPL 2024.

“Mumbai Indians have gone to Jamnagar, the place where the (Ambani) pre-wedding party happened. They are going to chill there,” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel recently.

MI languishing at bottom spot in IPL 2024 points table, winless run continues

Mumbai Indians, led by their new skipper, Hardik Pandya, made a terrible start in the IPL 2024, losing all three games they have played so far. MI began their campaign with a clash against Hardik’s previous franchise Gujarat Titans, now captained by Shubman Gill. The MI captain’s strategies didn’t turn out well as they suffered a narrow six-run defeat.

Mumbai then locked horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad and conceded a mammoth 277 runs, the highest total in the history of the tournament. The five-time champions have put up a strong fight but fell short for just 31 runs during the chase. The match saw SRH and MI score a total of 523 runs, marking the most in a single IPL match.

Taking into account the first two defeats, MI played Rajasthan Royals pretty determinedly in their first home match this season. However, their hopes shattered after managing to post a below-par 125 runs after being asked to bat first. They eventually lost the game by six wickets and are currently sitting at the bottom of the ten-team points table.
