Mumbai Indians (MI) registered a convincing victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 55th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at Wankhede on Monday, May 6. The win was anchored by a sensational century from Suryakumar Yadav.
Sunrisers Hyderabad Innings:
SRH set a target of 173/8 after 20 overs. Travis Head led the scoring with a dynamic 48 off 30 balls, including seven fours and one six. Contributions also came from Pat Cummins who added a quick 35 from 17 balls at the tail end. However, consistent wickets from Mumbai’s bowlers, especially Hardik Pandya (3/31) and Piyush Chawla (3/33), kept the innings in check.
Mumbai Indians Chase:
The chase was dominated by an outstanding innings from Suryakumar, who scored 102 runs from just 51 balls. His innings featured 12 fours and 6 sixes, propelling MI to reach their target comfortably at 174/3 with 16 balls to spare. Tilak Varma supported well with a steady 37 off 32 balls.
Hyderabad’s bowlers struggled to make significant inroads into Mumbai’s batting lineup. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Marco Jansen and Cummins each took a wicket, but it wasn’t enough to defend their total against the onslaught from Suryakumar.
