Michael Olise has a bright future ahead of him if he makes the move to Manchester United this summer.
That is according to former Manchester United defender and ex-Newcastle manager Steve Bruce.
Man United are one of a number of clubs to have been linked with the Crystal Palace striker as they look ahead to an overhaul of their squad this summer.
Olise has been hugely impressive this season, scoring ten goals in 18 matches for the Eagles – including the brace he netted in Palace’s 4-0 victory over Man United.
And as if Olise was not already considered an attractive prospect for a struggling Man United side, Bruce has revealed that the 22-year-old was once on his radar as a manager, along with another Palace star, Eberechi Eze.
He told Betway: “Ironically, I tried to take the two of them to Newcastle and they both decided that they wanted to stay in London.”
But Bruce insisted that a move to Man United would be a beneficial one for Olise – despite the Red Devils having had one of their worst seasons in recent memory.
“Every day the back pages are full of who (United are) going to sign.” he said. “I hope they get that department right. I think the moves that they’re making upstairs can only help. Certainly with the likes of Dan Ashworth, they will.
“When you say young, English, good players in the Premier League, they’re the ones that Man Utd thrived on, that they’ve always done well with.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re going to try and buy from the Premier League, because at least then you know what you’re going to get.”
After Manchester United’s 3-2 victory over Newcastle, they set a new unwanted record whereby they have now conceded more goals in a Premier League season than ever before.
The two Newcastle goals took their tally to 58 goals conceded, surpassing the previous record of 57 set in the 2021/22 season.
But Man United will still have the chance to salvage an FA Cup trophy in their poor season, when they take to the pitch against defending champions Man City in a repeat of last year’s final.
And Bruce insisted that the rest of their season was immaterial when it came to this final and that a win for the Red Devils was still well within the realms of possibility.
“Hopefully we’ll see a game like the Coventry v Manchester United semi-final!” he said. “I remember taking Hull to the FA Cup final against Arsenal ten years ago. I know it’s always ifs and buts, but we had an outstanding chance.
“In a one-off FA Cup final, anything can happen. We know that Man Utd can perform. I have to say, they need their big players fit. They must be fit. I know they’ve only got a few weeks and it’s still going to be very difficult to come out on top against Manchester City.
“But it’s a Cup final so they’re capable of winning a one-off game, that’s for sure.”
