Klopp in tears as 11,000 Liverpool fans sing his name at emotional event

Jurgen Klopp wiped tears from his eyes as he soaked in 11,000 Liverpool fans singing his name for the final time.

Reds supporters flooded to the M&S Bank Arena in the city to attend the German’s Q&A session following the end of his nine years as manager.

Klopp sent a few lighthearted parting shots at a number of the club’s rivals during the event – much to the enjoyment of all the Reds in the room.

But aside from being his usual cheeky self, the German was also overcome with emotion on the night too.

That was after the Liverpool fans all sung ‘I’m so Glad (Jurgen is a Red)’ to the club legend who won them a Premier League title and a Champions League amongst other accolades during his reign.

Klopp could only sit in his chair on stage and soak in the love, even having to wipe away tears brimming in his eyes.

The visibly moved manager raised his hands in appreciation as the singing – which had gone on for some time – stopped.

He then put his hand on his heart before standing up and waving to the fans.

Then came the final edition of his signature fist pumps.

Klopp signalled to the fans to hold up and began winding his arm.

Right on cue, the Reds fans began singing ‘ohhhhh’, before Klopp punched the air three times with a huge smile on his face.

Tuesday’s event comes after Klopp’s special leaving party following the end of Liverpool’s season that saw him dance the night away alongside Reds icon John Barnes.

He was also given a huge send-off on the Anfield pitch following their 2-0 win over Wolves and got fans to serenade incoming boss Arne Slot in a show of support.

The German took charge of 489 Liverpool games, bringing eight pieces of silverware back to Anfield in that time.

Last week, Liverpool confirmed former Feyenoord boss Arne Slot will take over this summer.
