“He is going to…”Mitchell Marsh drops a massive statement on Glenn Maxwell ahead of Australia’s clash against England

Glenn Maxwell is the team’s favorite to win matches in the T20 World Cup 2024, according to Australian skipper Mitchell Marsh. With the star all-rounder proving to be a match-winner for his country on numerous occasions, Marsh called it a “no-brainer” to have him in the lineup. At the Kensington Oval in Barbados, West Indies, on June 8, Australia and England will engage in a high-stakes match.

Maxwell’s impact from both the bat and the ball makes him an essential member of the team, Marsh said while speaking to the media.

“I think it’s exactly that. We know that Maxi is going to win us games and there’s going to be ups and downs with everyone in the team in this format. When you take the game on, which is what we want guys to do, we want guys to trust their ability and Maxy is vitally important for us. He bats, bowls, and he’s an exceptional fielder, and he’s a good leader within our team. So, for me, it’s always a no-brainer,” Marsh said.

Maxwell only managed to score 52 runs in 10 games during his IPL 2024 stint with the Royal Challengers of Bengal. Against Oman in Australia’s T20 World Cup 2024 opening match, he was included in the playing XI but was removed for a golden duck.

In addition, Pat Cummins, who was not included in the starting lineup for the first game, will be back, according to Marsh. Mitchell Starc was also declared fit to play in the match against England by him.

In the overall head-to-head matchups, England have won 11 and Australia have won 10 clashes. Meanwhile, in T20 World Cup matches as well, England have a slight upper hand over Australia, having won 2 out of 3 matches.
