Diego Lopes isn’t someone who backs down from a fight. The Brazilian is ready for his second crack at UFC featherweight gold as he fights Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 325.
Lopes lost the first bout at UFC 314 but he is confident of getting gold around his waist this time. The Brazilian was also asked, during the UFC 325 press conference, if he was willing to rematch Volkanovski should he dethrone the champion.
Lopes, to a background of boos from the Australian crowd, was willing to have a trilogy after UFC 325:
“Oh yeah, I think it is 100%. Volkanovski is a legend in the sport. So if the UFC say me you need one more fight with Volk. The people know me…I never say no”

Volkanovski has been dealing with a lot of rumors regarding his future in MMA. The Australian is one of the greatest featherweights in UFC history, and isn’t looking to retire anytime soon.
The 37-year-old dismissed any ideas of retiring after this fight and wanted to return to action soon should he come out unscathed on Saturday.
Diego Lopes plans to finish Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 325
Diego Lopes knows that Alexander Volkanovski is a dangerous opponent and plans to stop the fight before the five rounds are done.
In their first meeting, it was Volkanovski who got his hand raised at the end of five gruelling rounds. However, Lopes plans to finish his rival in the rematch.
The Brazilian was speaking to Fox Sports a few weeks before UFC 325 and laid down his plans for the clash:
“I’ve fighting in enemy territory, I need to finish this fight. Submission or knockout…this is my goal, my goal is to finish him.”
The 31-year-old has 27 wins in his professional MMA career with 23 having come via finish. Volkanovski, for his part, has only been knocked out three times in his career. However, two of those knockouts have come in his last three fights.
