Starting pitcher Freddy Peralta was one of the New York Mets biggest acquisitions this offseason, and fans won’t have to wait long to see him in action. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza announced that Peralta will be the Mets Opening Day starting pitcher at home against Pittsburgh on March 26.
Peralta is coming off of his best campaign as a Major Leaguer with the Brewers in 2025, and he should bolster a starting rotation that had the 13th-highest ERA in baseball last season at 4.13 along with the fourth-fewest innings pitched.
The eight-year veteran led the National League with 17 wins in 2025, striking out 200 batters for the third-consecutive season and walking 66 batters in 176 2/3 innings while posting a 2.70 ERA in 33 starts.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. In his first (and maybe only) season in Queens, Peralta is the fifth different Opening Day starter for the Mets in as many seasons.
Good luck!
