Drew McIntyre is all set to defend his Undisputed WWE Championship later this week on Friday Night SmackDown against Cody Rhodes. 2026 Men’s Elimination Chamber winner Randy Orton will challenge the winner for the title at WrestleMania 42.
A recent report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider might have spoiled the result of the championship match slated for the blue brand’s show. Johnson reported that the belief within the wrestling promotion is that The Apex Predator will face The American Nightmare for the coveted title on The Grandest Stage of Them All, insinuating that The Scottish Warrior will lose the upcoming championship bout.
Thanks for the submission!
Drew McIntyre won the Undisputed WWE Championship by defeating Cody Rhodes in a Three Stages of Hell Match on the January 9 edition of SmackDown. Although the contract for the bout had a “no rematch” clause in case McIntyre won, The Scotsman’s repeated interferences in Rhodes’ matches resulted in Nick Aldis making the match official during the Elimination Chamber Post-Show.
A rising WWE star put Drew McIntyre on notice
While speaking on the Battleground podcast, former NXT Champion Trick Williams opened up about receiving major props from Drew McIntyre.
The 31-year-old had good things to say about the Undisputed WWE Champion before appreciating him for the praise. However, Hollywood Trick then put McIntyre on notice, stating that he wanted the latter’s place.
“When they walk, you know, through the airport, people turn their head and look and see who is that. Drew McIntyre is one of those guys for sure. So I take that praise, you know, very seriously. But I got to make it come to fruition. I got to work. I got to do my part, and I’m grinding. I’m grinding every single day. Like, I’m after it. I’m hungry. You know what I mean? I appreciate it, Drew, but at the same time, I want your spot. So don’t get it twisted,” he said. [H/T: PWMania]
It will be interesting to see if McIntyre and The Anointed One cross paths before the end of the year.
