Multiple PL clubs join race to sign Manuel Ugarte from Manchester United: Reports

A number of Premier League sides have indicated their interest in a deal for Manchester United midfielder Manuel Ugarte this summer, as per reports. The Uruguay international will look to leave Old Trafford after falling out of favour, with his next club yet to be determined.

According to a report from CaughtOffside (via Sportsmole), Aston Villa and Newcastle United have identified the 24-year-old as a target for the summer. Both sides are keen to make quality additions to their respective squads, and they have pencilled down the name of the former Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) midfielder.

Manuel Ugarte has endured a disappointing season in terms of how much he has played, appearing 23 times across all competitions for Manchester United. The combative midfielder has started just nine times this season, leading him to seek a move away from the club.

Ugarte sought to leave Old Trafford in the January transfer window, but an injury crisis in midfield meant that the club decided to block a loan exit for him. They will now look to sanction a sale in the summer, as they look to carry out a complete overhaul of the midfield department.

The Uruguayan is not short of suitors, with Juventus and Galatasaray having previously shown their interest in his services. The Serie A side are said to be leading the race for his signature, having initiated personal contacts during the international break last week. Manchester United will hope to receive around £35 million for the midfielder, who they spent a reported £50 million on in 2024.

Manchester United handed timely injury boost

Manchester United have received a boost ahead of their return to action as Denmark international Patrick Dorgu has stepped up his recovery. The 21-year-old has been out of action since January with a hamstring injury, but is closing in on a return to full fitness.

Dorgu was in fine form for the Red Devils and scored in their dramatic 3-2 win over leaders Arsenal before picking up an injury in the same game. The former Lecce star has not appeared for the club since, but has now commenced individual training on the grass, marking a significant step forward.

Michael Carrick will hope to have the youngster available for the closing weeks of the campaign as they continue their push for UEFA Champions League football. The Red Devils have seven games left to play, all in the Premier League, before the season reaches its conclusion.
