Man Utd now considering move for £50m Anderson alternative who Vivell loves

Manchester United want to strengthen their midfield this summer, with Casemiro set to leave, and they are now considering a move for VfB Stuttgart star Angelo Stiller.

However, the Bundesliga star isn’t the only option on the shortlist, with the Red Devils also keen on a deal for Elliot Anderson, who is expected to complete a move to Manchester one way or another at the end of the season.

United will need to move swiftly if they are to beat their rivals to the Englishman’s signature, according to Fabrizio Romano, who recently said: “Then on Elliot Anderson, I keep telling you guys that Man City are on it. They want the player, they started negotiations with his camp. They have started on a deal to sign Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest.

“Still, nothing advanced. Man City want to respect Nottingham Forest in their relegation battle. He is a crucial player, so now is not time to negotiate a transfer fee. We will have to see at the end of the season whether they will be in the Championship or in the Premier League. That will be important to understand the fee.”

Man Utd eyeing Anderson alternatives after Man City step up pursuit

Should the prospect of moving to the Etihad Stadium prove to be too enticing for the Nottingham Forest star, Man United will be forced to move on to alternative targets, and they are now genuinely interested in signing Stuttgart star Stiller.

That is according to a report from TEAMtalk, which states recruitment chief Christopher Vivell is personally a big fan of the German maestro, who is expected to cost somewhere in the region of £50m.

Manuel Ugarte is now expected to move on, alongside Casemiro, exacerbating the need for United to bring in at least two new midfielders this summer, and Ben Mattinson was left very impressed by Stiller’s performances in the 2023-24 season.

The scout said: “One of the most consistent DLP’s this season and a breakout star. Complete and capable of being a lone #6. Decent ball winner with a wonderful left foot capable of spraying, clipping, crossing and fizzing passes from deep. So secure too.”

The 25-year-old also has five assists to his name in the Bundesliga this term, and he is averaging more passes per 90 in the Bundesliga (69.5) than any of Michael Carrick’s players are in the Premier League.

Man Utd gearing up for Leeds clash

Of course, qualifying for the Champions League will be crucial for Man United, when it comes to attracting top players in the summer, and they are in a strong position to finish in the top five.

Ahead of the clash against Leeds United at Old Trafford on Monday night, the Red Devils are in third place, seven points clear of sixth-place Chelsea, with just seven games remaining.
