The TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, match no.15, was between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). During the match, KKR spinner Sunil Narine etched his name in the history books. He became the first overseas bowler to pick 200 wickets in India in T20 games.
Narine achieved the milestone after he picked up the wicket of Mohammed Shami in the final ball of his final over. Sunil Narine finished off with the spell of 1/13 in his four-over spell. He was back in the side after missing the last game against the Punjab Kings due to abdominal pain, and he showcased all his experience in the following match.
Sunil Narine is a legend for KKR
Sunil Narine has been a veteran in the IPL, and over the years, he has performed for the Knights with the ball and with the bat. Narine is the leading wicket-taker for KKR in the IPL with 194 wickets. Since 2012, Sunil Narine has been with the franchise and delivered match-winning performances.
Your daily dose of cricket!
Sunil Narine is the only cricketer to have won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award thrice in the history of the IPL. He won in 2012, 2018, and 2024 and was the key with the bat in KKR’s 2024 title-winning campaign, scoring 488 runs and picking up 17 wickets.
Sunil Narine has not done much with the bat, and that is one thing that the management will look out for in the next game, as the West Indies all-rounder can turn the match with his batting ability, and everyone is aware of that.
KKR crumbled in the middle overs
KKR, after being asked to bat first by LSG captain Rishabh Pant, started well in the match, as Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raguvanshi; however, there was a flurry of wickets in the middle overs. Rahane was dismissed on the score of 41 off 24 balls, and the latter was back in the following over with 45 runs.
After the two wickets, KKR’s innings were shattered a bit; however, Cameron Green and Rovman Powell then stitched a partnership of 70 runs between them after settling on the wicket and helped the Knights to score 181/4 in their 20 overs. Green and Powell both were unbeaten at the scores of 39 and 32, respectively.
Mukul Choudhary the hero for LSG
LSG openers Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram were off to a good start. However, the two were back in the pavilion in the same over with Vaibhav Arora picking up two wickets in the span of three deliveries. The Super Giants then kept on losing wickets in the middle overs, to the KKR spinners.
KKR got hold of the match completely, though Mukul Choudhary had other plans as the Super Giants batter took the game away from the Knights from the 17th over, with 30 needed of the last two, and Mukul Choudhary went berserk and finished the game for LSG, scoring 54 of 27 balls and was unbeaten till the end of the match as LSG beat KKR by 3 wickets.
