    IPL 2026: Fans go berserk as Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Dhruv Jurel power Rajasthan Royals to extend unbeaten run against RCB

    In a stunning display of power-hitting, Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Dhruv Jurel played a breathtaking knocks, helping their side chase down Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)’s 201/8 with two overs to spare at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium. The six-wicket victory extended RR’s unbeaten run to four matches, while handing defending champions RCB their first loss of IPL 2026.

    RCB innings: Rajat Patidar’s rescue act after top-order collapse

    Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Rajasthan’s new-ball bowlers struck early. Jofra Archer removed Phil Salt for a golden duck off the very first ball of the innings. Virat Kohli (32 off 16) counter-attacked with seven fours, adding 45 runs with Devdutt Padikkal (14). However, Ravi Bishnoi turned the game by dismissing Kohli and Krunal Pandya (1) in quick succession.

    RCB slumped to 76/5 when Jitesh Sharma (5) fell, and soon Tim David (13) departed, leaving them at 94/6. Captain Rajat Patidar then played a captain’s knock, scoring 63 off 40 balls (4 fours, 4 sixes). He found support from Romario Shepherd (22 off 11) and Venkatesh Iyer (29 not out off 15), who added 41 runs in the last three overs to push RCB to 201/8. For RR, Bishnoi (2/32), Archer (2/33), and Brijesh Sharma (2/37) were the pick of the bowlers.

    The chase: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Dhruv Jurel blitz

    Chasing 202, Rajasthan lost Yashasvi Jaiswal (13) early. But then came Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the uncapped Indian opener, who played a blistering knock. He smashed 78 runs off just 26 deliveries, including 8 fours and 7 sixes, at a staggering strike rate of 300. He tore into RCB’s pace attack, particularly Abhinandan Singh who conceded 18 runs in his only over, and Romario Shepherd who went for 18 in his sole over.

    Sooryavanshi added 108 runs off just 37 balls for the second wicket with Dhruv Jurel, who played the perfect anchor role. Jurel remained unbeaten on 81 off 43 balls (8 fours, 3 sixes), rotating strike and finding boundaries at will. After Sooryavanshi fell to Krunal Pandya, and Shimron Hetmyer (0) and Riyan Parag (3) departed cheaply, Jurel and Ravindra Jadeja (24 not out off 25) steered the chase home with 12 balls to spare.
