    Joe Bowen, the longtime play-by-play voice of the Toronto Maple Leafs, called his final home game on Monday, as the team hosted the Dallas Stars at Scotiabank Arena.

    The matchup ended in a 6-5 loss for Toronto, but the main headline was the heartfelt tribute to Bowen after 44 seasons behind the mic. Early in the third period, the arena paid tribute to him, with the crowd giving him a standing ovation that lasted over two minutes.

    The 75-year-old got emotional with tears in his eyes as he waved to the fans. After the final horn, Maple Leafs John Tavares and William Nylander skated to center ice and saluted up toward the broadcast booth in a classy show of respect.

    On Monday, the Toronto Maple Leafs suffered a 6-5 loss to the Dallas Stars at Scotiabank Arena. The Maple Leafs have one game remaining and are going to finish at the bottom of the Atlantic Division regardless of the results in the final game.

    John Tavares opened the scoring for the Maple Leafs after putting them ahead 1-0 on the power play at 2:14 of the first period. Jacob Quillan increased the lead to 2-0 at 14:35 before William Nylander made it 3-0 heading into the second period.

    Mavrick Bourque cut the deficit to 3-1 just 52 seconds into the second period. He netted his second goal to pull the Stars within one at 5:31. Jason Robertson tied it 3-3 before heading into the third period.

    Max Domi increased the lead to 4-3 at 1:40 into the third period. Nicholas Robertson restored the lead to 5-3 at 4:19. Wyatt Johnston scored on the power play to cut the deficit to 5-4 at 8:18.

    Arttu Hyry tied it 5-5 for Dallas at 9:38 before Bourque completed his hat trick to secure the win for Dallas at 14:52. The Toronto Maple Leafs will wrap up their season against the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday.
