Madden NFL 27 is the upcoming 2026 installment of EA Sports’ annual American football simulation video game franchise. It is named after the legendary Hall of Fame coach and broadcaster John Madden.
Because EA Sports names its games after the year the season ends rather than the year it releases, Madden 27 is the designated game for the upcoming 2026-2027 NFL season.
EA Sports has scheduled its “EA Sports Opening Drive” event for June 4, where they will formally unveil both Madden NFL 27 and College Football 27.
The game is slated to launch in August (traditionally mid-to-late August), right before the kickoff of the regular NFL season.
It will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Caleb Williams’ “Iceman” pose took over Chicago sports culture
It became a defining storyline of Caleb Williams‘ breakout 2025 NFL season.
The pose first gained attention on Dec. 21, when Williams led the Chicago Bears to a 22-16 overtime win over the Green Bay Packers at Soldier Field.
After throwing the game-winning touchdown pass to DJ Moore in freezing weather, Williams performed the “Iceman” pose to show he stayed calm under pressure.
He used the celebration again on Jan. 11, during the Bears’ NFC Wild Card playoff game against the Packers after a big completion to Rome Odunze helped lead a 31-27 comeback win.
The celebration became so popular that on March 16, Caleb Williams Inc. filed four trademark applications to protect the “Iceman” name, logo and pose for future merchandise and sports products.
