The New England Patriots acquired wideout A. J. Brown via a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday. On Tuesday, Brown appeared on the “7PM in Brooklyn” show and said he leaked stories to the media while in Philly to motivate his teammates.
“It was done purposely to give us a push. I knew if I said something in the media, it’s going to propel us to work harder,” Brown said. “If you say what you need to say to the media, which I won’t do anymore, it gives everything legs to push everyone to be better. Because pressure isn’t always a bad thing, it can be a good thing. Honestly, I felt like it was okay to do.”
Thanks for the submission!
On Thursday, former St. Louis Rams running back Marcus Holliday offered his thoughts on Brown’s revelation and urged the Patriots to remain on guard.

“A. J. Brown, who at one point I think was the captain (at Philly), admits he used to leak stories to the media, and hopes that it motivates the team. Man, hell no, bro,” Holliday said in a video on X. “That’s something you do not do, regardless of the reason. Man, if I were a player on the Patriots team, I wouldn’t do anything around you, not a d*mn thing.

“Because seriously, people tell you that the locker room is a sacred place. … You cannot betray that trust that these dudes have in you, and you have amongst one another. That’s some sucker stuff, bro.”
Holliday went undrafted in 1995. He was signed by the Rams in July 1996 as a free agent.
Holliday played just one season in the NFL with the Rams. He spent the 1997 season with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the CFL.
A. J. Brown’s Patriots will begin mandatory minicamp this week

A. J. Brown took part in his first practice session with the Patriots on Tuesday. He is also set to be present at the team’s mandatory minicamp, which opens later this week on Tuesday.
Brown spent four years with the Eagles. He helped them reach two Super Bowls and won one in 2025.
Last season, there were reports indicating that Brown was not pleased with the Eagles’ offensive system, which eventually led to the WR leaving Philly this offseason.
It remains to be seen how Brown will acclimate in New England.
