“Not winning that camerawork one” – BTS The Comeback Live | ARIRANG’s reported submission for the Emmys leaves fans divided

BTS’s Netflix comeback special BTS The Comeback Live | ARIRANG has reportedly entered the early stages of the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards race. On June 10, 2026, X account Pop Core (@TheePopCore) reported that the special had been submitted for consideration by production company Done+Dusted. The globally streamed concert special is being evaluated across multiple technical and variety categories ahead of the official nominations process.

The special aired exclusively on Netflix and documented BTS’s comeback showcase held at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul on March 21, 2026. The event celebrated the release of the group’s fifth full length album, ARIRANG. It also became the group’s first full group comeback performance in nearly four years following the Yet to Come in Busan concert in 2022.

The Emmy submission quickly became a topic of discussion among BTS fans online. Many expressed excitement at the possibility of the concert special or the group receiving recognition from one of television’s most prestigious awards.

While many celebrated the Emmy consideration as a significant achievement for the group and the concert special, at the same time, some fans questioned its chances in certain technical categories. As part of its For Your Consideration campaign, the comeback live has been submitted in several categories, including Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control for a Special.

While fans praised BTS’ performance during the showcase, some felt the broadcast’s camerawork did not do justice to the performance and questioned its consideration in the category. A lot of fans voiced that the camerawork did not consistently focus on the members or the performance during key moments.

Several viewers recalled scenes that frequently cut to wide shots of the venue and surrounding buildings, including the Koreana Hotel, instead of maintaining attention on the group’s performance. As discussions spread across social media, one fan commented,

“Well its not winning that camerawork one, thats for sure you’d actually need to film the performance for that to happen”

well its not winning that camerawork one, thats for sure😭😭😭you’d actually need to film the performance for that to happen

Others shared similar sentiments, arguing that the camerawork often prioritized shots of the surrounding area over close coverage of BTS on stage.

“outstanding camerawork” and it’s full of koreana hotel in frame 😭

I love my guys, but they’re saying they want to nominate the concert where that cheap director started filming buildings right in the middle of the performance?

I don’t know about the Outstanding Camerawork thing because until today, the image of that Koreana Hotel is still haunting me.

everything is good but YOU NOT BOUTA ASK FOR AN EMMY FOR THE CAMERAWORK B$**H NOT WHEN KOREANA HOTEL WAS TRENDING WORLDWIDE

Despite those criticisms, many fans expressed excitement about possibility of the special earning a nomination in one or more categories and winning.

BTS are coming for that EGOT, and they will get it, mark my words

Oh kingtan you deserve the nomination even win it BTS EMMY WINNERS NEXT !!!

You know legacy, hell yeah BTS Emmy winners soon 🙏🙏🙏
