The India National Cricket Team’s disastrous performance in the recent five-match T20I series in England has left the Indian cricket fraternity angry and disappointed. After England completed a one-sided 4-0 series win, Ravichandran Ashwin revealed one of the biggest reasons behind India’s debacle.
Ravichandran Ashwin has pointed out that England showed faith in their players throughout the five-match T20I series, while India kept changing their combination. He believes this constant chopping and changing made it difficult for the team to settle, and the results clearly reflected that difference. Earlier, Sanjay Manjrekar blames BCCI and IPL after India’s 4-0 T20I series loss to England.
Ravichandran Ashwin slams India’s selection after England’s 4-0 humiliation
Speaking with the senior journalist Vimal Kumar on his YouTube channel, Ravichandran Ashwin said that India were not just beaten but completely outplayed by England in the recent T20I series. Amid this, Graeme Swann delivers blunt verdict on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s snub.
The former Indian off-spinner has reiterated that England dominated India in every department during the series. Ravichandran Ashwin also highlighted the difference in the way both teams handled their players.
Ravichandran Ashwin has pointed out that England continued backing their players, including Jos Buttler, even when he was badly struggling for runs, but India kept changing their opening combination and struggled to decide between Sanju Samson and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. This lack of stability affected the team’s performance.
Ravichandran Ashwin said, “We didn’t just lose. They just smashed us. Actually, Wimbledon is still going on in England, and they’ve smashed us there. See, I’ll tell you there is a huge difference between India’s and England’s performance. They kept giving him chances, and we were playing a game of musical chairs with the opening batsman, trying to decide whom to play between Sanju Samson and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.”

England crush India to seal 4-0 series and become No.1 T20I team
England finished the series in style by defeating India by 56 runs in the fifth and final T20I at the Rose Bowl in Southampton on July 11. The victory gave England a 4-0 series win after the opening match was washed out because of rain in Durham.
The win also helped England replace India as the No. 1 team in the ICC Men’s T20I rankings. The fifth and final T20I match started after a 45-minute delay because India’s team bus was stuck in traffic. After winning the toss, India chose to bowl first, but the decision did not work in their favor.
Prasidh Krishna dismissed Phil Salt early, but after that, England completely took control. Jos Buttler played a sensational innings of 131 runs from just 64 balls, while captain Harry Brook remained unbeaten on 95 off 45 balls.
Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma fight, but India fall short in huge chase
They have added a record-breaking 233 runs for the second wicket, the highest partnership for that wicket in men’s T20I cricket. England finished with a huge total of 257/3 in their 20 overs. Chasing the massive target, Ishan Kishan fought hard with 56 runs from 35 balls, while Tilak Varma scored a quick 53 off 25 deliveries.
However, the required run rate kept increasing as wickets were kept falling from the other end. Sam Curran led the bowling attack with three wickets as India fell short by 56 runs. Now, the teams will focus on the upcoming three-match ODI series, starting on July 14.
