A female WWE star suffered a double-burn as she was scheduled for a huge Championship match just 24 hours after RAW, but was replaced due to an injury and was also cut off by a living legend.
This week on WWE NXT, Layla Diggs, the up-and-coming star who many have been touting highly, was scheduled to face Zaria for the NXT North American Women’s Champion. For context, Zaria is the one who sent Sol Ruca packing to the main roster in a brutal match. After Ruca’s departure to the main roster, Zaria ended up dethroning the popular Tatum Paxley to become the new NXT Women’s North American Champion. As we mentioned, she was going to face Layla Diggs, who is in WWE legend Natalya’s NXT faction alongside Nikkita Lyons and Karmen Petrovic (who has been making a bit of a splash herself in AAA).

However, Diggs walked into Robert Stone’s (the NXT GM) office, and that was when it was revealed that she wasn’t medically cleared to compete, as she was in a cast. However, Natalya suggested another idea, but she wasn’t alone. When Diggs spoke up, Natalya cut her off rudely, teasing something big in the near future. Either way, while she vouched for Nikkita Lyons, the relative newcomer Lizzy Rain claimed she was never pinned in her previous title shot. Izzi Dame, meanwhile, was the only one who could claim to have been a former North American Champion. So, as a replacement for Layla Diggs, Robert Stone made a Fatal-4-Way match, replacing her with Nikkita Lyons, Lizzy Rain, and Izzi Dame.
It wasn’t the best moment for Layla Diggs, who many will be wanting to see as a singles WWE star in NXT. She certainly has the look and ability, and one has to wonder whether seperating herself from Natalya and co will be what finally leads to her realizing her potential.
