    Chelsea fans are delighted with the signing of Arsenal target Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa for a reported £117 million. The new signing hailed the Blues are the biggest club in London, which has got more fans on his side.

    Mikel Arteta was in direct talks with Rogers this summer, while he was with the England national team for the FIFA World Cup. However, a conversation with Xabi Alonso changed his mind, and he picked Stamford Bridge as his next destination.

    Rogers spoke to the Chelsea club website following his move and said:

    “I’m so excited. For me, Chelsea are the biggest club in London and a club I’ve always admired since I was a kid. I’m really excited about the project with the new manager, the players we’ve got and where the club is heading. That’s why I’m here and I can’t wait to get started.”

    The comments have not gone down well with the Arsenal fans, who believed that they were signing the Englishman from the Villa Park side. Many posted:

    Morgan Rogers comments on Chelsea move after rejecting Arsenal

    Morgan Rogers has confirmed that he wanted to join Chelsea after the conversation with Xabi Alonso. He admitted that the manager played a key role in his decision and is keen on getting started at the club this summer.

    “The size of the club, the stature, the progression and the way that the club wants to move forward. It’s something I want to be a part of. It was perfect for me. I have had a few conversations with [Alonso]. It’s important for me to understand what the manager is like, how he is and how he wants to operate, and it very much fits with the way I see the game, the way that I want to play and the way that I want to be me, be free and express myself. Him being a part of that was a massive [element] of the decision for me to be here.”

    Morgan Rogers will be away on vacation for the next three weeks after playing for England at the FIFA World Cup. He is expected to joining training with Reece James and Trevoh Chalobah in the first week of August.
