Emma Navarro vs Elisabetta Cocciaretto preview

Former top 10 player Emma Navarro will lock horns with Elisabetta Cocciaretto in the second round of the Mubadala DC Open 2026.
Navarro faced former Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin in the first round. Navarro ran circles around her compatriot in the opening set. She swept all six games to capture the opener without a fuss.
Kenin raised her level in the second set and secured a double break advantage to go 3-0 up. Navarro managed to retrieve one of the breaks but she wasn’t out of the woods just yet. She eventually trailed Kenin 5-3, and flipped the script from that point on. Navarro bagged the next four games, and even saved a set point, to score a 6-0, 7-5 win.
Cocciaretto commenced her campaign in Washington against Clara Tauson. The Italian went down a break at the start of the first set, and couldn’t recoup that deficit, thus costing her the set. Cocciaretto trailed by a break in the second set as well but managed to get back on serve this time.
While Cocciaretto wasted a couple of set points on Tauson’s serve in the 12th game, she got the job done in the tie-break to claim the set. She led by a break twice in the third set, and even served for the match at 5-4 but fumbled those opportunities. Nevertheless, she outplayed Tauson in the tie-break to register a 4-6, 7-6 (2), 7-6 (2) comeback win.

Emma Navarro vs Elisabetta Cocciaretto prediction

After a blistering start, Navarro overcame spirited challenge from Kenin to begin her campaign with a win. She improved her record for the season to 19-14 with the win, and to 5-8 on hardcourts. Cocciaretto dug deep to snap her four-match losing skid with a win over Tauson. She has put together a 16-11 record at the main draw level this year, with an 11-4 record on hardcourts.
Cocciaretto has a slim advantage in this head-to-head. They are tied 1-1 on hardcourts, and the Italian won their most recent showdown at the Italian Open earlier this year in straight sets. However, that match was a turning point for both players.
Cocciaretto’s win over Tauson marked her first win on the tour since she beat Navarro in Rome. The American had a 4-9 record until her loss to Cocciaretto, and has posted a 15-5 record since then. Given their recent results, Navarro will be favored to win this contest.
Pick: Emma Navarro to win in straight sets.
