Reigning Leagues Cup champions Seattle Sounders get their title defense underway when they take on Toluca at the Estadio Nemesio Diez on Wednesday. Antonio Mohamed’s men had lost their previous two outings, suffering a 2-1 defeat against Pumas UNAM on July 22, four days before falling 3-1 at the hands of Cruz Azul in the Campeon de Campeones.
Toluca now turn their focus to the Leagues Cup, where they picked up three wins from three group-stage games last season to reach the quarter-finals before suffering a penalty-shootout defeat against MLS side Orlando City.
