Path of Exile: How to get Aspect of Lunaris (and how to build around it)

Aspect of Lunaris is a new buff in Path of Exile 3.29 that grants you damage reduction against Physical and Elemental damage. Pair it with other defense Pantheon Souls, and may get one-shotted a lot less from Unique and rare mobs. Note that you shouldn’t confuse Aspect of Lunaris with Soul of Lunaris in the Pantheon, as this one’s part of the new Allfame crafting mechanics.

In this guide, we’ll go over how you can get Aspect of Lunaris in Path of Exile. Furthermore, we’ll cover how it works and how to build around this buff, though you can use it across almost every build in the game.

Aspect of Lunaris is an enchantment created by the Brinehook’s Ducat. You can get the item by exploring the Fathomless Depths using Charts or running Voyages. There’s also a chance of getting Ducats from the Allflame encounters across regular maps, but I won’t advise using this as a farming strategy. The underwater shrines drop them more frequently, improving your chance of getting Brinehook.

Once you have it, take it to the Allflame Forge in the Sovereign and use it on the item you want. Note that the Aspect you want isn’t guaranteed, but if you have upgraded the ship with various trinkets acquired from underwater enemies, then you can choose the Aspect you want.

What does Aspect of Lunaris do, and how to build around it?

Aspect of Lunaris is a Persistent Skill that reserves 25% of your mana and grants you damage resistance against Physical and Elemental Hits based on how many stacks you have. If you take Elemental damage, the buff will grant you Lunar Resistance, which reduces Elemental damage taken by 2% per stack. Taking Physical damage grants Lunar Protection, which reduces Physical damage taken by 2% per stack.

Both Lunar Resistance and Lunar Protection can get up to eight stacks each, and can be active at the same time. Furthermore, the buff can be activated through Physical or Elemental self-damage, like using Blood Rage or Trauma Support for Physical damage, or Enmity’s Embrace Unique for Fire damage.

Armor stacking builds benefit most from Aspect of Lunaris

As mentioned, it’s a direct improvement to player survivability, meaning most builds in the game will benefit from this aspect. However, since it focuses on Physical and Elemental damage reduction, armor-stacking builds with additional Elemental Resistances will benefit the most from it.

Another thing to keep in mind is that Aspect of Lunaris is only effective against Physical and Elemental Hits and not Damage over Time. This means Righteous Fire or Forbidden Rite may not be able to proc it as consistently. For the best results, use it with self-damage builds that don’t deal DoT or Chaos damage to you.

To further improve defenses, use Soul of Gruthkul in the Minor Pantheon Souls for another 5% damage reduction with Erebix to reduce enemy attack speed, along with Soul of Solaris in the Major Pantheon Souls with Kitava. The rest depends on how much armor and Elemental resistance you have, as well as your damage mitigation, like less damage taken from Critical Hits.
