Man Utd remain keen on signing Eduardo Camavinga

Manchester United are keen on signing Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga this summer, according to Fichajes.

Since arriving in Madrid in 2021, Camavinga has established himself as one of the best midfielders not just in LaLiga but across Europe and is now expected to cost well over his £42m Transfermarkt valuation.

The Frenchman has made 223 appearances in the Spanish capital, operating mainly in central midfield while occasionally filling in at left-back.

Once regarded as an important member of the squad, the 23-year-old subsequently slipped down the hierarchy under Álvaro Arbeloa, with academy graduate Thiago Pitarch preferred in several fixtures.

His situation was further complicated by a series of inconsistent displays, including a costly Champions League outing against Bayern Munich in which he received a red card. Those struggles ultimately led Didier Deschamps to leave him out of the France squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Although Jose Mourinho’s arrival was expected to give him a chance to start afresh, the midfielder continues to attract significant interest from several clubs.

Camavinga has been linked with a move to United for most of the summer, but reports of a move have quieted down over the past weeks.

However, according to Fichajes, the Red Devils remain keen on signing Camavinga and have been working on a deal for weeks as they look to reinforce their midfield.

    Audacious swoop

In a boost for the Red Devils, the Spanish outlet adds that Madrid could consider selling the 23-year-old if they receive a sufficient offer, given the array of current midfield options in their squad.

Camavinga’s trophy cabinet already reflects an impressive career, with the Frenchman having won two UEFA Champions League titles, two La Liga championships, two UEFA Super Cup trophies, one FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Nations League with France.

His contribution to those successes has gone far beyond simply being a member of the Real Madrid squad. The midfielder has played an influential role in several of the Spanish giants’ memorable comebacks under Carlo Ancelotti, while his defensive displays have repeatedly demonstrated his quality and consistency.

For Michael Carrick, bringing in a player with Camavinga’s versatility, experience and winning mentality could prove hugely beneficial.

His established pedigree would give the United boss another high-level midfield option as he looks to construct a balanced squad capable of challenging for major domestic and European honours next season.
